~Bean Town and The Capitol~
We came, we set up, we played and we left Boston in a matter of 7 hours. Another rough bit of routing for a band with a one-bedroom van, but we were Truckin' nonetheless. The Avalon Ballroom is a sweet room and once again, Big Head Todd and the Monsters sold a ton of tickets...probably cuz they're a kick-ass rock band...but anyways, The Brakes had plenty of friends and fans in attendance, including our first true Brakes Tour follower, Amanda, who we met maybe a year ago while on the road with Tea Leaf Green-she's awesome and always up for a good time =)

After another overnight haul-ass from BeanTown to the Capitol, we found ourselves at the legendary 9:30 Club. At first we didn't really understand why this place was so renowned as a venue. First off, the outside of the club is unmarked-no marquee, no tour posters, no big entranceway or anything. But we soon witnessed the energy that the 9:30 packs once the fans have arrived. When you're on the stage, you can see every face in the crowd, from the front row to the last head in the balcony. The sound system is raging and The Brakes took advantage by playing the "big sound setlist," written by Jesse Lundy our wiley manager.

Zach turned some heads by dedicating "Big Money" to the U.S. Government!
Also, we celebrated Josh "Young Squire's" 21st birthday after the show by popping some corks and eating a bunch of cake with our tour hosts BHTM.
Well thats it for our semi-national tour supporting Big Head Todd. We had an amazing time and we certainly learned a lot about doing this rock n' roll thing the right way from a group of seriously talented and experienced musicians and crewmembers. We can't thank them enough, so i'll stop trying...You'll see some of my favorite pics from the tour in my next post.
