~Home, Bittersweet Sweet and Bitter, Bitter and Sweet Home~
After a much needed 36 hour break back in Philly, The Brakes made their return to the TLA, just one month after the triumphant NYE performance with Tea Leaf Green. The guys really showed their mettle at this show, overcoming some tough elements to put on a really rockin' set. First off, the TLA is notorious for being a "Boomy Room" i.e. the volume of the bass and drums overwhelm the other instruments. Also, as the band was ready to hit the stage, it looked like the room was completely empty! It turned out there were more than 500 people already there with more coming in, they were all just at the bar. But no more than 2 songs into the set, the crowd came down to the stage to rock out with The Brakes. And of course we felt right at home with the band's closest friends and family members in attendance.

Then on to New York City- after having lunch with the friendly people of Relix Magazine, we all got hyped to play for a music-industry laden crowd. The boys left their mark on more than a few execs with a show that I personally consider a true classic.
